Changing with Change

Super news! Last November I heard about Sojo Studios, a game company that donates 50% of its profits to charity. Within milliseconds (no really), I decided their mission is one I wanted to join. A company with a strong focus on giving to those in need? Fabulous! Five months and five interviews later, I’m ecstatic to announce I’ve joined the Sojo team! http://www.sojostudios.com/

We moved. Again!

We found it on Monday, decided on Tuesday, signed a lease on Wednesday, painted on Thursday and moved in (and out) on Friday-Sunday. We love it!

Kyler’s favorite thing isn’t even inside. It’s the rooftop grill that the landlord is giving us (and only us) access to. We’ve eaten off that grill already 4 of the past 5 nights!

Today we found ourselves at Venice Beach with thousands of people, though the intent was to bike to Malibu alone and have lunch.

A couple miles into our trip we met an elderly man who was clearly having trouble with his bike. We stopped. We ended up biking back home (30 min), storing the bikes, hopping in the car, and picking John Treanor up where we left him. Then began the trek to Venice, only a few miles away but with traffic today it could be measured in light years.

What a gentleman. Formerly employed by FEMA as a spokesperson, he was very interesting to talk with and Kyler and I found out right away that we have some things in common with his sons, Tom and ??. (Jerry?)

We traded emails, dropped him off and then spent the day at the Venice Boardwalk. Crowds galore. A man wearing a tree (okay, a bush) jumped out at me and I screamed. It was funny even though the guy behind me said, “Oh he got you fool” (except I believe he left off the “L” sound).

We saw a man wearing a python as a scarf. We could’ve picked up some medical marijuana at 5-6 places (others apparently did). The roller skating park and skate park were fun to observe. Over on the beach we saw quite a few successful surfers. Nice beach.

This video is of a street performer (group of 4) jumping over 9 people. That was a good show. This is just a small portion.

YouTube is now streaming more than four billion online videos each day, representing a 25% increase in the past eight months, reports Reuters. This figure is across all platforms, including PC and smartphones, and the company has said that around 60 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube every minute, compared to 48 hours a minute last May.
